How to build language development into distance math learning?
We would love to hear from district teams what has been set up, and what is being considered, to support English Learners in the context of distance learning plans. We will then present two Design Principles for embedding support for all students’ language development, including English Learners, in distance learning instructional practice. These Design Principles are:
Students have opportunities to revise their written work.
Students have opportunities to see and use peer language as a resource
We will present three adapted Math Language Routines things teachers can try this week with students in distance learning contexts:
Critique, Correct, Clarify - Asynchronous version
Critique, Correct, Clarify - Synchronous version
Stronger and Clearer Each Time - Asynchronous version
Audience: District Improvement teams.
