Meet Program Manager Jarrett Poston

Q: What is something you do a lot in your job?

A: I spend a lot of time with teams from school districts and my focus with them is making sure we are all on the same page, listening to each other, and aligning our work to our common goals. I enjoy collaboration and helping others grow. I’m proud to have supported dozens of teachers in becoming school and district leaders.

Q: What is one thing you’ve learned from working with school districts as an Ed Partners program manager?

A: This role gives me daily opportunities to learn about creating systems that are sustainable and that create meaningful results. If I can only share one thing I have learned it is just how wildly complex it is to create meaningful and sustainable improvements across a district of any size. The work of just sustaining the system as it is takes almost all of our effort, and at times these “sustaining efforts” can actually be the roadblock to the improvements that are needed.

Q: What are you in the learning zone around right now?

A: I feel like I am perpetually in the learning zone, with everything. My focus right now is on practice, or trying a new skill collaboratively with our colleagues before entering the classroom. I am curious how we can leverage this type of practice in our Professional Learning efforts to remove miscommunication, speed up the time it takes to learn a new skill and to support our efforts to spread effective practices to more classrooms, schools and across districts.
